THE FOURTH HOUSE

THE FOURTH HOUSE

General Prosperity:
Mother, Property, Vehicles,
Intelligence and Travel

The personal welfare of any individual depends upon beneficent forces arising from the depths which link his past and ultimate future. Any understanding of these influences is inherently limited, though the immediate environment in which the individual dwells is an indicator. His early childhood, the love and affection bestowed on him by his family, the clothes he puts on, the food he eats, the house in which he lives, the education he receives and the religious instruction he gets all contribute to his sense of well-being. The Fourth house hi a natal horoscope signifies all these factors and something more. When an individual's Divine Essence immerses itself in that Great Depth known as Hiranyagarbha, then rises again to the surface of external existence, one is confronted with many helpful and adverse forces which guide him towards his destiny, which in any given incarnation is reflected by the opposite house, the Tenth. In order to comprehend the complex forces which impinge upon an individual and condition the psycho-spiritual entity to receive such influences, it is necessary to examine the Fourth house. The nature of this house determines one's general welfare, happiness, emotional stability, and the degree of affluence operative in his life.
The Moon and Venus have special importance in this house. The Moon provides emotional stability, nurtures the individual, and helps to toake him amiable. Such an influence attracts people to him and his sociability is therefore intensified. Venus enhances his sensitivity and makes his life comfortable. Luxurious surroundings and friendly people make him happy. Jupiter in the Fourth house enables the individual to earn tespect and favor from the state. Some of the significations of this house Me "celestial food," "an ant-hill," "the development of Vedic and other sacred texts," "celestial drinks," and "the elephant in rut." These are appellations alluding to the occult and spiritual forces radiating from this house. Jupiter, Saturn, and Ketu have a special importance in respect to these features of the house. As emotional storms, physical well-being, and Divine grace are all connected with this house, the benefics are especially auspicious here and the malefics especially adverse.
A special combination which gives exceptional results in this context arises when Saturn and the Sun are posited in the Fourth house, the Moon in the Ninth, and Mars in the Eleventh, in which situation the individual is said to possess "a large number of cattle and other useful animals." This implies that the above combination enables the individual to possess productive assets and luxurious possessions by concretizing the meritorious influences of the past.
The SUN occupying the Fourth house symbolizes the divine nature in man expressing itself in the external or physical realm. This influence has the quality of making the individual very regal, viewing his problems from such a pedestal of detachment that all difficulties seem insignificant and inconsequential. It also detaches the person from the masses. His nature becomes very selective, and no one can establish an equal partnership with him without offering something very special. Ordinary people and relatives are often alienated from him in consequence. People become antagonistic towards him, and though he himself is a person of courteous behavior, measured speech, and dignified dealings, he is often faced with those who are vindictive, jealous, and undignified. But though he may be constantly surrounded by congenial people, he will never be defeated by any enemy or competitor. He will earn money, property, and power through his own efforts, and many persons will seek assistance from him. His mother may suffer from ill health, but he himself will receive honor and respect from the state.
The MOON is a soothing planet which replaces the Sun's radiance with an attractive coolness. The Moon in the Fourth house makes the individual approachable by everyone, high and low, rich and poor. A sympathetic chord resounds when we meet someone with the Moon hi the Fourth house. The depth of the ocean is in his eyes and the tranquility of his disposition can quiet the most turbulent emotions in others. Motherly affection, nice cars, pleasant travel and universal respect give a sense of contentment which makes him non-competitive with others. He is popular among his relations and loved by the opposite sex. He is affluent, but often afflicted by physical problems.
MERCURY bestows physical comforts, a large number of friends and relations, and a very sharp intelligence. Inasmuch as Mercury ranges from the highest spiritual level to the grossest physicality, a person with this planet in the Fourth house can comprehend the abstruse problems of the universe. Often he knows the secrets of nature and dabbles in black magic.
He is popular, a very absorbing conversationalist, an extensive traveler, and very considerate to others, but he may be found guilty of misappropriating the wealth and property of his siblings, indulging in clandestine sexual affairs, and of living a double life in general. He may suffer from serious affliction in his childhood.
VENUS is the planet most desirable for both worldly and spiritual blessings. An attractive spouse, fine cars, intelligent children, a palatial mansion and respectable society are among the auspicious results of Venus in the Fourth house. Young people, especially women, are attracted to such an individual. He has an artistic temperament, is highly intuitive, and can easily pick up on the feelings and thoughts of others. His company is always joyous and he is skilled in the erotic arts.
MARS precipitates the impact of past karmic deeds, especially those of an adverse nature. Ordinarily, Mars is a planet of selfishness, greed, and rash action, which, in the long run, catch up with the individual in the form of physical or psychological problems. Occupying the Fourth house, Mars creates impatience, impulsiveness, and self-centeredness, unless it receives auspicious aspects or is in exaltation or its own sign. As a result, the individual is considered cruel, inflexible, and covetous by nature. Under such circumstances, Mars may produce affliction for the mother, loss of property, dependence on manual labor to earn one's livelihood, and constant movement from one place to another. Generally, such a person is not born into a respectable family, is abandoned by his siblings, favors bad company, and involves himself in tawdry sexual affairs. He earns his living by serving bad people.
With JUPITER in this house, very evolved souls are bora. Such individuals have generally learned good lessons hi a previous life and have thereby earned meritorious rewards. Thus the individual is born into a very respectable family, receives much recognition from the state, and is placed in happy surroundings with a luxurious house, an excellent car, abundant family and friends, and a respectable means of livelihood. He is spiritually inclined, respecting the saints and seers, is himself well-versed in sacred scriptures, and is capable of overcoming his personal difficulties by ethical means. He is happy in disposition and earns wealth and property as a result of government support.
Unless SATURN is exalted in the Fourth, the native may be disturbed, suffering from karmic retribution. Such a person may be humiliated by "te common people, dishonored in his profession, and afflicted by many physical ailments. He is a pessimist, keeping bad company and indulging in relationships with undesirable characters. He may become indigent, and lose his wealth and position. Even his mother may abandon him. His mind is always in conflict, unhappy and lacking spirituality. He will not listen to rational or helpful advice and may thus be humiliated by his spouse, his children, or even his employees.
When RAHU is in this house, the individual is not quite so unlucky. Almost everything hi his immediate environment is the result of past karmic forces which nothing can stave off, and such forces may bring conditions that test his mettle. He suffers separation from his mother, his siblings may turn against him even when he is helpful to them, and he may not receive his due in his profession. Nevertheless his affluence, penchant for spiritual study and general persistence, along with his insight into the workings of nature, may in time produce wealth, and he may win an enviable status in life and a reputation which outlasts him. In adverse circumstances, however, he may sometimes show suicidal tendencies. In the end, he will certainly achieve the object of his desire.
KETU hi the Fourth house has the potential to make the individual psychic, provided it is in favorable association with the Moon and aspected by spiritual planets. But this is the exception rather than the general rule. Keru often renders the mind unbalanced, disturbing the individual's social relationships and making his personal life miserable. Ketu makes itself felt in the psychology of an individual rather than on the material conditions of his life. Ketu is not especially detrimental to the acquisition of wealth if it receives aspects or is in association with powerful planets. In Scorpio or Leo it produces favorable conditions for material happiness as well as friendly relationships with one's associates. Whatever happens as a result of Rahu or Ketu in the Fourth house is of very deep significance; they often cast their influence on all the other planets.
The placement of the planets in different signs affects the nature of their influence. Any sign in the Fourth house is a force in the birth chart, linking the physical and psychological atmosphere around the person with various planets, which become either ineffective or very important depending on their conditions. The main effect of Fourth house planets is to bring forth karmic potential from the past for the purpose of achieving present goals, while the sign involved shows the psychic atmosphere in which the planets must operate. What is expressed in an external form is the combined final effect of these interactions. This point should be kept in view while examining planetary influences and signs affecting the Fourth house, though of course this principle applies to all houses.

The Tri Doshas

by
Akshit Kapoor-

The three humors are responsible for the functioning of the human organism according to the Ayurveda. When the three doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha reside undisturbed in their proper organs and tissues, the organism is supported by them and is in balance. When disturbed, they cause disease and deterioration of the body.
Of all of them, Vata (Wind) is the key. Pitta and Kapha cannot move from their centers unless the air within the body carries them.
Through birth and prolonged specific behaviour, one dosha may dominant, or a combination of two doshas is dominant. Some people have all 3 doshas in relative balance. An ayurvedic doctor may establish your dominant body type through feeling the pulse. To give a very general idea, one might say that Vata dominated people are relatively thin, Pitta dominated people are relatively athletic and Kappha dominated people are relatively rounded.

Diabetes and detection by astrology

by-
Akshit Kapoor-

Astrological factors influencing diabetes are:

·     Ascendant: the general build up and strength of physical body
·     Venus: rules kidney, suppression of urine
·     Moon: rules pancreatic action and blood flow, urinary derangement
·     Jupiter: arteries, veins, degeneration, diabetes
·     Sign cancer: rules pancreas, blood
·     Sign Libra: rules kidneys, and excretory system
·     Sign Sagittarius: arterial system
·     6th house: house of disease

The following are the eight planetary combinations which denote that a person may be prone to be a diabetic patient:

· If Venus and Jupiter have connections with malefic planets and the 8th house is occupied with the malefic effect of a different planet.

·  The malefic effects of Moon and Jupiter in the 8th house.

·Venus and Jupiter having association and aspects of malefic when the Ascendant is occupied by a malefic.

·  Venus with a malefic in 8th with aspects of a malefic.

·  Aspects of malefic on Lagna, the lord of Lagna in his depression or inimical sign and Venus in the 8th house. In this combination, instead of actual placement of Venus in the 8th house, his full aspect on the 8th bhava gives rise to Diabetes.

·  Rahu and the lord of the 8th house posited in the 8th bhava or in a Trikona cause diabetes.

·     Mercury is a sign of Jupiter aspected by Mars gives rise to the disease.

·  Venus in the 2nd house when the lord of the Ascendant is posited in the 6th bhava coinciding with his debilitation sign and when the rising sign is subjected to malefic aspects brings about this disease.

• Two or Three Malefic Planets if posited in Watery Signs
• Two or Three Malefic Planets posited in the 6th House.
• Two of Three Malefic Planets pos ited in Libra or in 7th house
• Moon afflicted by Sun or Mars in Watery Signs
• Venus afflicted by Sun or Mars in Watery Signs
• If the 6th lord is posited in 8th or vice versa
 1. Saturn afflicts Jupiter either by aspect.

2. Jupiter is in constellation of Saturn.

3. The Moon afflicted by Saturn.

4. Jupiter is Poorvashada constellation.

5. Saturn afflicts Cancer sign.

6.
Jupiter afflicted by Rahu and Jupiter is in RahuConstellation.

• To summarize, the Astrological Symptoms for Type 1 Diabetes are:
• Afflicted Venus (connected to a dusthana, or debilitated or retrograde, or in Papakaratari ….)
• Afflicted Mars (connected to a dusthana, or debilitated or retrograde, or in Papakaratari ….)
• Afflicted 5th house/lord
• Rahu afflicts both Venus and Mars in one way or the other
• Venus, Mars and Rahu are connected to one another, in some way or the other in Rasi, D6 and D30
Since the sign of Cancer rules the pancreas astrologically we can begin to see a picture of inherited disease perhaps triggered by viral infection at age three. It is said a strict diet can sometimes reduce one's dependence on insulin. According to astrology there are strong chart indicators against the success of any remedial medical action. So take the help of astrology in advance.
Astrological Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is the most commonly occurring diabetes. About 90% of the diabetics suffer from this type of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes results from insulin resistance (a condition in which the body fails to properly use insulin), combined with relative insulin deficiency. There are two aspects here:
• Relative insulin deficiency - Not enough insulin is produced
• Insulin resistance - Body fails to properly use the insulin produced
It is a well-known fact that pancreas produce insulin and in Astrology Venus is the karaka for pancreas. Hence, an afflicted Venus could indicate defective or under efficient pancreas. Hence, one could find a weak and afflicted Venus in this case also. But it is not mandatory as an individual with healthy pancreas could possibly get Type 2 diabetes. Hence, it is important to look for other symptoms which are mandatory for Type 2 diabetes. Insulin resistance plays an important role in Type 2 and is a mandatory condition. Doctors say that the primary treatment for insulin resistance is exercise and weight loss. According to Vedic astrology exercise could be read as strengthening Mars. Weight Loss (manage body weight) could be read as reduce the malefic effect of Jupiter.

Astrology of Glaucoma ( The Eye disease)

by
Akshit Kapoor--

Glaucoma and astrology.

Glaucoma is a disease that damages the eye’s optic nerve. The optic nerve is connected to the retina — a layer of light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye — and is made up of many nerve fibers, like an electric cable is made up of many wires. It is the optic nerve that sends signals from your retina to your brain, where these signals are interpreted as the images you see.

In the healthy eye, a clear fluid called aqueous (pronounced AY-kwee-us) humor circulates inside the front portion of your eye. To maintain a constant healthy eye pressure, your eye continually produces a small amount of aqueous humor while an equal amount of this fluid flows out of your eye. If you have glaucoma, the aqueous humor does not flow out of the eye properly. Fluid pressure in the eye builds up and, over time, causes damage to the optic nerve fibers.

Glaucoma can cause blindness if it is left untreated. Only about half of the estimated three million Americans who have glaucoma are even aware that they have the condition. When glaucoma develops, usually you don’t have any early symptoms and the disease progresses slowly.

Ayurveda explains that Pitta dosha, the element of fire and light, governs our eyes. Specifically, the sub-dosha “Alochaka Pitta” lives in the eyes. Alochaka pitta absorbs images and colors, allowing us to take in and digest all of the visual impressions coming to us. When Alochaka pitta is in balance, eyes are healthy, bright, clear, shiny, luminous, and we enjoy sharp eyesight.
If pitta becomes aggravated, we can experience excess heat, anger, frustration, and liver problems. As pitta rises in a person, they become stressed, feel over worked, and eventually burnout. Impaired vision and eye problems are often related to pitta overdrive and liver imbalance. The best remedy is to keep pitta cool and calm with proper foods and daily meditation.
Tarpaka Kapha is responsible for keeping the eyes lubricated, moist and cool. Prana Vata is responsible for the life force that runs throughout the head region, for movement of the eyes, blinking, and sensory perception.

Nakshatras and Sattva, Rajas & Tamas

Nakshatras and Gunas

In this article I plan to explain the concept of Nakshatra from the point of view of gunas,

In the Mahabharata-Aswamedha Parva-Sections XXXVI to XXXIX we get the clear explanations of the Gunas.

“Brahma (Prajapati) said, “Darkness, Passion and Goodness – these are called the three qualities.”

Even though this article is not to explain the 3 qualities, which can be read from my previous blogs, yet it is essential to have a basic understanding of the same to have it related to Nakshatras. I would advise readers to go through any good translation of the Mahabharata chapter given above,

Darkness is TAMAS.
Passion is RAJAS
Goodness is SATWA

Of the 3 gunas Tamas is the lowest followed by Rajas and Satwa. Tamas keeps us in a state of ignorance, laziness, inaction, delusion and darkness. Rajas is action to get the desires fulfilled. It is the passion that drives one into action, often not getting the expected results which leads to further action. Satwa is happiness and enjoyment irrespective of the results of our action. Satwa is knowledge, wisdom and the calm and quiet of the mind.

Each and every one of us has a varying combination of the three gunas. At any point of time one particular guna may be predominant which is subject to change. Chapter XIV of Bhagavad Gita also we find a clear explanation of the three gunas.

Now coming to the topic of discussion, since we, human beings are a mixture of the 3 Gunas, it must have a definite relationship with the planets, rasis and Nakshatras. Let us take up what is in store with regard to Nakshatras.

Each Nakshatra has a certain guna which you will find in any basic characteristics of the Nakshatra table. For example Ashwini Nakshatra is Rajas, Bharani is Tamas and Krittika is Satwa. If you deeply look into the Guna table of Nakshatras you will find that these 3 qualities viz. Rajas, Tamas and Satwa repeat in the same order after every three Nakshatras.

Let us find out all the Nakshatras that have Rajas guna:
Ashwini, Rohini, Punarvasu, Magha, Hasta, Vishaka, Moola, Shravana, Purvabhadrapada making a total of 9 Nakshatras.

These Nakshatras coincide with the signs Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Capricorn and Aquarius.

Note also the nature of the signs – Fiery (Aries), Earthy (Taurus), Airy (Gemini), Watery (Cancer), Fiery (Leo), Earthy (Virgo), Airy (Libra), Fiery (Sagittarius), Earthy (Capricorn) and Airy (Aquarius).

Similarly you can list out the Nakshatras which have Tamas and Satwa Guna and their coincidence with the signs. I leave it for the readers to prepare the same.

The three levels of Nakshatra

First Level:

  1. Let us divide the 27 Nakshatras into 3 groups, each group having 9 Nakshatras. The first 9 Nakshatras from Ashwini to Aslesha will be the first group. Incidentally these 9 Nakshatras fall within the first four signs namely, Aries, Taurus, Gemini and Cancer-being the first Fiery, Earthy, Airy and watery signs.
  2. When you take the next 9 Nakshatras from Magha to Jyeshta, they will fall in the signs starting from Leo and ending in Scorpio-which will be the second Fiery, Earthy, Airy and watery signs.
  3. The last 9 Nakshatras viz., Moola to Revathi will be falling in the signs Sagittarius to Pisces-the last Fiery, Earthy, Airy and watery signs.

Rajas is the most active of the gunas, has motion and stimulation as its characteristics. Then next one is Tamas which is characterized by heaviness and resistance producing disturbances in the process of perception. Finally Satwa comes which is characterized by lightness, consciousness, pleasure and clarity.

Hence we will have this order throughout this article – Rajas, Tamas and Satwa,

Applying this rule to the above the three divisions of 9 Nakshatras each, the first group is of Rajas quality, the second group is of Tamas and the third group is of Satwa quality.

Readers at this stage will get a doubt – Why such specific qualities are to be attributed and is there any basis for this? Correct thinking. We have already seen that each human being is a mixture of all the 3 qualities and hence each Nakshatra also must have all the 3 qualities. Since the original order given by rishis is Rajas, Tamas and Satwa we will also stick to the same principle. All the divisions which we are going to make for each Nakshatra will have the order Rajas-Tamas-Satwa.

We have just seen one quality of the Nakshatra and the other two qualities are also to be fixed for each Nakshatra. So let us proceed to the next level.

SECOND LEVEL:

Now let us take the first group of 9 Nakshatras – viz. from Ashwini to Aslesha. We have already fixed one guna for this group which is Rajas. Now to fix the next guna for each of these Nakshatras, let us divide these 9 Nakshatras into 3 groups of 3 Nakshatras. So this group will be:

Ashwini

Rohini

Punarvasu

Bharani

Mrigasirsha

Pushya

Krittika

Ardra

Aslesha

Applying the same rule of fixing the gunas as before the first 3 groups forming the Nakshatras – Ashwini, Bharani and Krittika will have Rajas quality and the next three Nakshatras Rohini, Mrigasirsha and Ardra will have Tamas quality and the last group of Nakshatras Punarvasu, Pushya and Aslesha will have Satwik qualities.

THIRD LEVEL:

This is the original Guna which you will find in any Nakshatra characteristics table which has been explained in the beginning. That is to say that the Rajas, Tamas and Satwa gunas repeat for every 3 Nakshatras starting from Rajas for Ashwini.
The gunas at the three levels:

What we have seen here is a rather complicated system in which a Nakshatra represents certain gunas at certain levels.

I will explain, at the cost of repetition, the various levels for 3 Nakshatras. Readers are advised to compute the same for the rest of the Nakshatras to get a hold on the principle.

Ashwini Nakshatra:

I Level is – Rajas
II Level is – Rajas
III Level is – Rajas

Hence for Ashwini we write Rajas-Rajas-Raja or in short RRR

The first level will be Rajas up to Aslesha Nakshatra and the 2nd level will be Rajas up to Krittika. But the third level will change for each Nakshatra.

Bharani Nakshatra:

I Level is Rajas
II Level is Rajas
III Level is Tamas

Hence for Bharani we write Rajas-Rajas-Tamas (RRT)

Similarly for Krittika it will be Rajas-Rajas-Satwik.
The second level change happens at Rohini Nakshatra
Rohini Nakshatra:
I Level is Rajas
II Level is Tamas
III Level is Rajas

For Mrigasirsha it will be Rajas-Tamas-Tamas (RTT)
I have constructed a complete table for all the Nakshatra Padas which is appended here: (Abbreviations have been used for Rasi and Rasi lords: Ar-Aries, Ta-Taurus, Ge-Gemini, Cn-Cancer, Le-Leo, Vi-Virgo, Li-Libra, Sc-Scorpio, Sg-Sagittarius, Cp-Capricorn, Aq-Aquarius, Pi-Pisces;
Su-Sun, Mo-Moon, Ma– Mars, Me-Mercury, Ju-Jupiter, Ve-Venus, Sa-Saturn, Ra-Rahu, Ke-Ketu, As.-Lagna)

What is the use of this rather arduous and complicated system? We know already that any individual has all the three qualities within him. The qualities are also subject to changes. To know which gunas are predominant in a chart you can use this table. You look at the Nakshatra in which the Lagna and the grahas are placed. Look at the gunas of these Nakshatras. Assign one point for each guna. For example if Lagna is in Ashwini Nakshatra which has Rajas-Rajas-Rajas quality then the count is Rajas = 3. Like that you have to compute for all the planets taking the Nakshatra in which they are placed.
Let me explain it with an Example:

One important point readers to remember - this system is helpful, in evaluating the guna of a person, but to really evaluate a chart we should always look at the chart as a whole and not just at the gunas the planets and the ascendant are in.

Let us take an Example:-

As mentioned earlier for evaluating the full characteristics of a person, analyse the horoscope as a whole and consider the above system also and then come to a conclusion.

Nakshatra Lords and gunas:

We all know that each Nakshatra has a planet as its Lord. In fact it is the lord of the Nakshatra in which Moon is placed at birth decides the first Dasa in the life of the person under Vimsottari Dasa.

Let us try to examine the Nakshatra Lords and the gunas of Nakshatras. Let us find out whether any relationship exists.
You can find the Lords of each Nakshatra by referring to any Nakshatra table characteristics. However, for immediate reference I am giving below the Nakshatra Lords:
1.    Ketu – Ashwini, Magha, Moola
2.    Venus – Bharani, PPhalguni, PShada
3.    Sun – Krittika, UPhalguni, UShada
4.    Moon – Rohini, Hasta, Shravana
5.    Mars – Mrigasirsha, Chitra, Dhanishta
6.    Rahu – Ardra, Swati, Satabhishak
7.    Jupiter – Punarvasu, Visakha, PBhadrapada
8.    Saturn – Pushya, Anuradha, UBhadrapada
9.    Mercury – Aslesha, Jyeshta, Ravti
Let us first examine the basic guna as available in any of the Nakshatra Characteristics table which is the same as the 3rd level characteristic explained above.
Rajas quality Nakshatras at the 3rd level or basic quality -
1.    Ashwini, Magha, Mula (Lord is Ketu)
2.    Rohini, Hasta, Shravana (Lord is Moon)
3.    Punarvasu, Visakha, PBhadrapada (Lord is Jupiter)
Tamas quality Nakshatras at the 3rd level or basic quality -
1.    Bharani, PPhalguni, PShada (Lord is Venus)
2.    Mrigasirsha, Chitra, Dhansihta (Lord is Mars)
3.    Pushya, Anuradha, UBhadrapada (Lord is Saturn)
Satwa quality Nakshatras at the 3rd level or basic quality -
1.    Krittika, UPhalguni, UShada (Lord is Sun)
2.    Ardra, Swati, Satabhishak (Lord is Rahu)
3.    Aslesha, Jyeshta, Revati (Lord is Mercury
Before arriving at any conclusion, let us examine the secondary level gunas also:
1.    Ashwini, Magha, Mula (Lord is Ketu)
2.    Bharani, PPHalguni, PShada (Lord is Venus)
3.    Krittika, UPhalguni, UShada (Lord is Sun)
Have Rajas guna at the second level.
1.    Rahini, Hasta, Sravana (Lord is Moon)
2.    Mrigasirsha, Chitra, Dhanishta (lord is Mars)
3.    Ardra, Swati, Satabhishak (Lord is Rahu)
Have Tamas guna at the second level.
1.    Punarvasu, Visakha, PBhadrapada (Lord is Rahu)
2.    Pushya, Anuradha, UBhadrapada (Lord is Satrun)
3.    Aslesha, Jyeshta, Revati (Lord is Mercury)
Have Satwa guna at the second level
Let us tabulate the above two findings taking the second level first and the third level as the second:

What does this table denote? Can we draw some conclusion out of this?
I will give my view points below. Readers and learned scholars can contribute more on this.
Sun is a fiery planet (Rajas). But it represents the soul and hence Satwa characteristics.
Venus is for love, lust and passion (Rajas). In order to attain these we go deeper into material life (Tamas)
Jupiter too is a fiery planet (Rajas), but again has Satwa characteristics because he is Guru and rules wisdom.
Saturn is a spiritual planet, because it is the planet of Sannyas (renouncing the world). Nevertheless, as we all know Saturn represents material things and hence Tamas.
Rahu has the same energies as Saturn only in a different order. It brings us deep into material life (Tamas). However, it only is doing this so we are able to outlive everything that this earth has to offer and then liberate ourselves (Satwa).
It may come as a surprise to some people that Mercury turns out to be the most spiritual planet. However, one thing that distinguishes us from animals is our capacity to think and evaluate ourselves. Mercury as an airy planet can liberate us from this earth. It is not a planet of materiality (Tamas) and neither does it like hard work and action (Rajas). It thinks about Tamas and Rajas instead of going into it.

After these examples, it will probably not be too hard to meditate about the character of Ketu, Mars and the Moon.

CONCLUSION
In this article I have mentioned the connection of the gunas to the Nakshatras and hence the Nakshatra Lords. I am well aware that there are other systems, which give information about the gunas and the planets.
